RIVER TO RIVER CORVETTE CLUB MINUTES

FOR AUGUST 18, 2010

 

The regular monthly club meeting was held on August 18, 2010 at the Old Homeplace in Gorveville, IL.  There were 30 members present.

 

President Loring called the meeting to order at 6:20 pm with acknowledging and welcoming our new members, Lawrence and Rita Ripley.  The minutes and treasurer’s report for the July meeting were approved by George Williams and seconded by Linda Fowler.

 

President Loring reminded members to check out the Club’s website.  Music has been added and Frank Wehmeyer deserves a special thanks for maintaining our Club website.

 

President Loring called on Joan and Frank Wehmeyer to discuss their visits to Thailand.  They are involved in the Wounded Warriors Project, which sponsors school children in Thailand.  Club members were requested to bring school supplies to the September meeting for Frank and Joan to take with them on their next visit to Thailand.

 

President Loring explained the non-profit organizations such as ours.  There was some question whether we would loose our status.  Checked with CPA and he thought it may only pertain to larger organizations.  If there should be a problem he will let us know.

 

President Loring discussed the upcoming events, which are as the following:

August 27th, T-Birds

August 28th, First Ever Gateway Riverfront Corvettes Show 8am-5pm sponsored by STL Night Riders Corvette Club of St. Louis;

August 28th, Downtown After Dinner (DAD), Paducah, KY

August 28th, Frog Follies, Evansville, IN.

September 5th, 4th Annual Heartland Classic at DuQuoin State Fair. 

September 10th, T-Birds

September 11th, Annual Corvettes on the River Car Show, Paducah,

September 11th, Veteran’s Parade, Marion, IL

September 17th-19th, Mid America Funfest, Effingham, IL

RIVER TO RIVER CORVETTE CLUB MINUTES

FOR JULY 15, 2010

 

 

The regular monthly club meeting was held was July 15, 2010 at Asian Bistro in Marion, IL.  There were 21 members present. 

 

President Loring called the meeting to order at 6:50 pm.  The minutes for the June meeting was approved by Gene Ruehmkorff and seconded by Ron Gregory.  Treasurer’s report approved by Linda Fowler and seconded by Ron Gregory.

 

President Loring welcomed new member Toby Tobias.

 

President Loring reported that the cruise to the Tour De Corn Festival in East Prairie, Missouri had six cars.

 

President Loring reported that on June 10th there were nine cars on the cruise through Giant City Park area and local wineries led by George Williams. The Cruise ended with a cookout at Craig and JoAnn Pillatsch’s home. There were 26 members attending the cookout.

The Club wishes to extend a hearty Thank You to Craig and JoAnn for their hospitality.

 

Members were reminded of the following events:

The Steeleville Cruise on Saturday July 17th.

The Home Depot Car Show, also on Saturday July 17th.

The Corvette Plant Tour on July 26th      

 

The Parade of Corvettes prior to the Miner’s game on August 1st was discussed. President Loring mentioned that arranging the Corvettes based on color had been expressed. The problems associated with this such as limited space at the stadium seemed to prohibit this. It was decided that members with the older Corvettes should lead the parade. The details as to arrival time at the ballpark, etc. will be announced as soon as it is available.

 

On Sunday August 8th is the Somewhere Cruise.  If anyone is interested meet at Region’s Bank at 2 pm.  August 14th the Corvette Kansas City Car Show, and Saturday September 18th VA Car Show in Marion, IL 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

 

Norman Rogers was the winner of the 50-50 drawing.

 

The next monthly meeting will be on August 19th at the Old Homeplace Restaurant in Goreville, IL at 6:30 pm.

RIVER TO RIVER CORVETTE CLUB MINUTES

FOR JUNE 17, 2010

 

The regular monthly club meeting was held on June 17, 2010 at 17th Street Bar and Grill in Marion, IL  There were 26 members present.

 

President Loring called the meeting to order at 6:40 pm for an approval of the May minutes and treasurer’s report.  Motion made by George Williams and seconded by Norman Rogers.

 

President Loring acknowledged new members; Gene and Linda Ruehmkorff, who were introduced by George Williams.

 

Secretary Donna Rogers reminded those members that had ordered name tags that they would be $11.00 ea.

 

President Loring thanked all of the members that attended the Four River Paducah Club’s picnic on June 6th at Noble Park; the Beaver Cook Off in Anna, Il and the VA Hospital event on June 12th. 

 

President Loring reminded members of T-Birds Card Show on June 18th.  Other events that were discussed; on June 26th we have on our event calendar the Wine Trail Cruise, on that same date, the Paducah Club has invited our Club to attend the Tour de Corn Festival in East Prairie, MO and on to Lambert’s in Sikeston, MO to eat.  There was a lot of interest for this event, with 12 members going.  President Loring will inform members via e-mail of the meeting time for this cruise.

 

President Loring announced that the Paducah Club had invited our Club to participate on July 24th  in the Downtown After Dinner event in Paducah.  Eighteen members expressed interest in attending this event. Other events are on July 2nd T-Birds Car Show, a cookout at Craig and JoAnn Pillatsch home on July 10th.  There will be a 3-4 hour cruise prior to the cookout at the Pillatsch’s.  Somewhere Cruise on July 11th; July 11th – 13th Black Hills Corvette Classic, Sioux Falls, SD to Spearfish SD.  August 12-14th, Kansas City Corvette Show.  President Loring called upon Steve Daron to discuss the Kansas City Show.

 

Donna Sitter won the 50-50 drawing with winning of $30.00.

 

The next monthly meeting will be on July 15th at Asian Bistro in Marion, IL.

 

President Loring requested the members to e-mail him of any changes they may have in their e-mail addresses and he would have a new membership list for the next meeting.

RIVER TO RIVER CORVETTE CLUB MINUTES FOR MAY 20, 2010 

The regular monthly club meeting was held on May 20, 2010 at Western Sizzlin in Marion, IL There were 24 members present. 

President Loring called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm with the acknowledgement of our new members, Charles Hartline and Ron Ury.  Also one guest, Patricia Roach.  The minutes and treasurer’s report of the April meeting were approved with motion made by George Williams and seconded by Steve Daron. 

President Loring was pleased with the good turnout for the Vic Koenig car show on May 8th.  There were 20 Corvettes for the show.  The Somewhere Cruise on May 16th was attended with 8 cars for the Flamns Orchard Cruise. 

President Loring asked Vice President, Dallas Bailey to inform the members how to purchase the club jackets.  Some club members were also interested in the nametags.   

President Loring announced to members that George Williams had been selected to be a Bloomington Gold judge this year on June 24th-27th.  This is an honor to have one of our Club member to be represented for this position. 

President Loring reminded members of the Mid-America Fun Fest, September 17th-19th.  The entertainment for this year will be “Guess Who” Band and Reggie Jackson. 

President Loring wanted to know how many would be attending the Four Rivers Paducah Club picnic on June 6th.  We will meet at Regions Bank and leave around 1:15pm.  The Glass Pack Corvette Club was also invited to attend.  Other events for discussion was the Hot Rod Power Tour; Second Annual Beaver Cookout on June 12th 2:00pm – 4:00pm in Anna, IL; Metropolis SuperMan Car Show on June 10th-13th.

RIVER TO RIVER CORVETTE CLUB MINUTES FOR

APRIL 14, 2010 

The regular monthly club meeting was held on April 14, 2010 at Ryan’s Steak House in Marion, IL.  There were 24 members present.   

President Loring called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm with the acknowledgment of our new members, Dale and Jean Martin.  The minutes and Treasuer’s report of the March meeting were approved with motion made by George Williams and seconded by Donna Rogers.  50-50 tickets were sold with winnings going to Mike Sitter. 

President Loring discussed the Clarksville on Cumberland trip and the only member that was interested in going was George Williams.  Other events that was discussed was the Swap Fest in Effingham, May 1st, T-Birds on May 7th; and Vic Koenig Car Show, May 8th.  President Loring would like a great showing of Corvettes for the Vic Koenig Car Show, because Vic has been a wonderful sponsor of our Club over the past years. 

President Loring reminded members of the Somewhere Cruise on May 16th and that the Four Rivers Corvette Club of Paducah had invited our Club to join them at Flamms for strawberries.  The members agreed. 

President Loring reminded members that the June 6th Cruise to Bollinger Mills has been rescheduled.  The Four Rivers Picnic is to replace that date. 

The next monthly meeting will be on May 20th at Western Sizzlin.

RIVER TO RIVER CORVETTE CLUB MINUTES FOR MARCH 18, 2010

 

The regular Club meeting was held at Jeff and Kim Lantrip’s Party Barn on March 18, 2010 Norman Rogers cooked Ham and Beans and members provided side dishes.  Everyone thanked Norman for cooking the beans.  There were 17 members present.   

President Loring called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm  There were Miner’s tickets sold for the game that is scheduled on August 1st 

President Loring discussed the Bingo card purchase.  Cards were ordered on line and returned because of poor quality.  The Club bought 50 cards from Memphis for a total of $182.48.  George Williams made a motion to approve purchase and was seconded by Donna Rogers. 

President Loring reminded members of Cruise nite at T-Birds on Friday March 19th as St. Patrick Cruise.   

President Loring discussed the thought among members if they would be interested in sponsorship of one Cruise Nite on Friday, May 21st.  Norman Rogers made motion to accept and George Williams second the motion. 

A special THANKS to Jeff and Kim Lantrip for use of their Party Barn.  The next meeting will be on Wednesday, April 14th at Ryan’s Steakhouse in Marion.  Everyone was reminded to bring baby pictures for the next meeting. 

Corvettes on the Cumberland is scheduled Saturday, April 17th

CORVETTE CLUB MINUTES FOR FEBRUARY 18,2010

PRESIDENT LORING CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 7:OOPM. THE MINUTES AND TREASURER'S REPORT WAS SUBMITTED AND APPROVED.

THE CLUB MET AT TRIPLE E PLUS IN WEST FRANKFORT, IL. ON FEBRUARY 18, 2010. THERE WERE 21 MEMBERS PRESENT.

PRESIDENT LORING ASKED MEMBERS WHO WERE GOING TO ATTEND THE MINERS BALL GAME TO TURN IN THEIR TICKET MONEY.

MEMBERS VOTED TO BUY BINGO EQUIPMENT FOR OUR CLUB. MOTION MADE BY STELLA SIMMONS AND 2*° BY STEVE DARON.

PRESIDENT LORING DISCUSSED THE MARCH MEETING TO BE A HAM AND BEAN DINNER TO BE HELD AT JEFF & KIM LANTRIPS PARTY BARN. MEETING TO BE ON 3-18-10. MEMBERS WERE ASKED TO BRING SIDE DISHES AND DESSERTS. WHITE ELEPHANT BINGO WAS DISCUSSED AND APPROVED FOR MEETING.

MINUTES FOR JANUARY 21, 2010

 

The River to River Corvette Club met at Debbie Jz Restaurant in Herrin, Illinois on January 21, 2010.  There were 19 members present.  President Loring welcomed new members, Ron and Gi Gi Gregory to the Club.

 

President Loring called the meeting to order at 7:10pm.  The minutes and Treasurer’s report was submitted and approved.  Motion made by Mike Sitter and seconded by Gordon Fowler.

 

President Loring passed around a list for cruise ideas for our Club Calendar.  There was not much response so it was passed again.

 

President Loring discussed having a Valentine’s Party.  Ideas were made and a committee of ladies was appointed by President Loring to find a place and time for the Valentine’s dinner.  Stella Simmons and Donna Sitter were appointed.  A date was made for Saturday, February 13, 2010 and agreed upon.  The place and time for the dinner was to be forward to President Loring via e-mail.

 

President Loring discussed having the am and Bean dinner in March.  Jeff and Kim Lantrip voluntHam and Bean dinner in March.  Jeff and Kim Lantrip volunteered their “Party Barn” for the dinner.  Norman Rogers volunteered to cook the beans.  The dinner is to be our March meeting.

 

President Loring  discussed with the members the Miners Ball team having a Car Show and parade on Sunday afternoon August 1st.  There were several Club members that committed to participate in the show.  The price for a ticket is $5.00 or $7.00 depending where you want to sit.  The deposit money is to be paid by March 1st. 

 

There was a drawing for some jewelry with first place winner, Stella Simmons and second place winner to Linda Fowler.

 

Kevin Edwards mentioned Nostalgia Restaurant in Benton, IL for a meeting in the future.

            December 12, 2009

 

 

 

The River to River Corvette Club held their Christmas Party on

             December 12, 2009 at Lake of Egypt Association Building.

 Eighteen members and one guest were present.

 

            President Terry Loring called the business meeting to order.

            He read the Slate of Officers for the upcoming year and asked for any

            other nominations from the floor.  There were none.  The slate was

accepted unanimously.

            The January meeting will be held on Jan 21, 2010 at Debbie J’z in Herrin.

            RIVER TO RIVER CORVETTE CLUB

            November 19, 2009

 

 

            The River to River Corvette Club met at Debbie J’z Restaurant in Herrin, IL

            on November 19, 2009.  Nineteen members and one guest were present.

 

            President Terry Loring called the meeting to order at  6.45.  The minutes and

            Treasurer’s report for October were approved as submitted.

 

            President Loring introduced new members Aron and Amy Edwards.  Also

            joining the club are Jeff and Kim Lantrip who were not present.  Welcome

            new members.

 

            Pres Loring reported on the success of the Fish Fry in October at Lake of Egypt.

 

            The Four Rivers Club has invited our club to join them for a Christmas Lights

            Cruise on Friday, Dec 4 at 6PM in Paducah.  Meet at Regions Bank at 5PM.

            We will cruise to Noble Park, meet Four Rivers, eat at Ponderosa and cruise to

            Draffenville and the Mike Miller Park for Christmas lights display.

 

            Dallas Bailey announced that the Hot Rod Power Tour will be coming to the

            DuQuoin Fairgrounds in June 2010.

 

            CHRISTMAS PARTY:

 

                  December 12 at Eagle Point Bay Association Building.  Club will provide

                  BBQ Ribs and soda.  Bring side dish and dessert.  Gather at 5PM.  We will have a

                 Crazy Gift Exchange ($10 gifts each) and play bingo.  Good time will be had by all!

 

            NOMININATION OF OFFICERS:

 

                  Pres Loring asked for nominations for the position of Secretary/ Treasurer for 2010.

                  Donna Rogers was nominated by Alan Hunt and seconded by Mike Sitter. 

                  Continuing 2009 Officers are:

                        Vice Pres:  Dallas Bailey

                        Trustees:  Steve Daron, Norman Rogers and Frank Wehmeyer

MINUTES FOR OCTOBER 15, 2009

 

 

The River to River Corvette Club met at Debbie “J” in Herrin, Illinois on October 15, 2009.  There were 19 members present.

 

President Terry Loring called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. The minutes and Treasurer’s report for September were approved.  Motion by Frank Wehmeyer and seconded by Alan Hunt.

 

President Loring called on Steve Daron and Craig Pillatsch to report on the Funfest in Effingham on September 27th that they attended. 

 

President Loring informed the members that T-Birds Car Show attendance is down due to the weather and shorter daylight hours.  Next scheduled show is on October 31st.

 

President Loring and Steve Daron attended the Choate 140th Anniversary Car Show on October 10th.  Steve came away with First Place award along with two other awards.

 

President Loring reminded the Club members of our Annual Fish Fry on Sunday, October 18th.  An invitation was extended to the Four Rivers Corvette Club in Paducah to the Fish Fry.  They have accepted our invitation and plan on having around 25 of their club attending.  Our Club will be providing the food, with our members bringing (2) desserts.  (Bring lawn chairs) We will be eating around 1:30 p.m, there will be games and bingo with Frank and Joan Wehmeyer in charge of the bingo games. 

 

Frank Wehmeyer requested if club members have pictures of past events; please forward them to him, so he can put them on our Club web-site.

 

President Loring informed the members that Secretary/Treasurer Lyn Christy is resigning her position at the end of this year.  President Loring also requested the members to be thinking about officers for the coming year.   Nominations will be in November and the vote for the new officers will be at our December meeting.

 

Our next meeting will be on Thursday, November 19th at Debbie “J”.

The River to River Corvette Club met at the Thompsonville Café in Thompsonville, IL. There were 13 members present.

 

President Terry Loring called the meeting to order at 7:p.m.  The minutes and treasurer’s report were approved.  Motion by George Williams and seconded by Donnie Simmons.

 

Several from our club attended the Frog Follies event on August 20th

 

President Loring reported that the DuQuoin Fair Car Show on September 6th was a washout but was attended by Mike and Donna Sitter.
